stop 6: organizations

It seems North Adams and Williamstown residents either know a LOT about the river or nothing at all. Most of the people who are knowledgeable about the river work with one of the two main organizations: Hoosic River Revival (HRR) or Hoosic River Watershed Association (HooRWA).

HRR

HRR's goal is to revitalize the economy of North Adams by making the river more accessible and prominent in the daily lives of residents and a driver for tourists, predominately by removing the 2.5 miles of concrete flood chutes lining the river in North Adams

HooRWA

HooRWA is more focused on recreation, conservation, and ecology. They monitor the entire river and work with local college students at MCLA and Williams conducting research on temperatures and water quality
